Crown Pool Services is up to date with current techniques and advanced technology and strives to construct beautiful swimming pools of the highest quality
A swimming pool, also referred to as a swimming bath or paddling pool, is a structure designed to hold water for swimming and other leisure activities. These pools can be built into the ground or constructed above ground, either as standalone structures or as part of larger buildings. In-ground pools are typically made from materials like concrete, natural stone, metal, plastic, or fiberglass, and can be custom-sized or built to standard sizes, with the Olympic-size pool being the largest.
Many facilities such as health clubs, fitness centres, private clubs, public institutions, hotels, educational institutions like schools and universities have pools primarily for exercise or recreation. Hot tubs and spas filled with hot water are used for relaxation or hydrotherapy and are common in homes, hotels, clubs, and massage parlours. Specialized swimming pools are also used for diving, other water sports, lifeguard training, and astronaut training.
There are three main types of in-ground pools: concrete, vinyl-lined, and fiberglass. Concrete pools are custom-built and can be shaped to any size or form. They are often referred to as Gunite or Shotcrete pools because concrete is shot from a gun onto steel-reinforced walls. Once the concrete cures, it’s either plastered smooth, painted, finished with a textured aggregate surface or tiled. A smaller percentage of concrete pools are formed and poured similarly to a house foundation; this technique is often used for pools built into hillsides.
Fiberglass pools are factory-moulded into one large bowl-shaped piece and placed into the excavated hole by a crane. This allows for quicker installation than other pool types - in some cases as little as three days. Fiberglass pools have a super smooth gel coat finish that’s durable and stain resistant. Unlike concrete, fiberglass pools are non-porous, so they tend to use fewer chemicals and harbour less algae.
However, fiberglass pools come in fewer sizes and shapes than concrete or vinyl pools. The large moulded pools must be transported by truck which often requires long circuitous delivery routes due to individual state regulations on the transportation of oversized loads.
